“’There are two sides to every story' is a sentiment I resonate with deeply, which is why I explored that concept in the original YOU EP; and I wanted to extend that idea with releasing duet/remix versions of the original songs,” says Laura Marano. “I actually first found out about my incredible duet partner for 'Honest With You’ while I was working on duet versions of two other songs last summer. But even then, I thought Alextbh would best suit ‘Honest With You’ out of all my songs (and not just because part of his name means ‘To Be Honest,’ though I would be lying if I said I didn’t also think about/love that wordplay aspect. I’m kind of a nerd.). Alex brings the perfect pop vocal to this song, and being able to collaborate with him while he was in Malaysia and I was in LA was pretty special. He definitely has elevated the original song, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear this version and see the video we filmed!”
Released last October, Marano’s sophomore EP YOU received support from Spotify, Apple, Tidal, Billboard, MTV, Live Nation/Ones To Watch, Radio Disney, and more. This past February, Marano released the music video for EP track “Something To Believe In” that incorporated American Sign Language to help tell a story of having someone help find the light, when going through the darkest of times. The video to date has accumulated over 130K views since its February release. Up next, Marano is working on another surprise duet, scheduled to release within the next few months.
