LAUNCH THE SLIDESHOW >

You're currently on "Rush Hour" on CBS. What can you tell us about the show?
It's an action comedy that has heart, humor and amazing martial arts. We have Bret Ratner and Arthur Sarkissian (original producers of the RUSH HOUR franchise) and Bill Lawrence (who created SCRUBS) and has won multiple Emmys on board as producers. It's the only show on TV that you can see badass Kung Fu, laugh your butt off and still get your WhoDunnit fix.

What were your initial thoughts about Didi when you first read the script? What did attract you the most to this role?
I loved that Didi was a total guy's girl. She's fun, tough and a bit of a smart ass. I loved that she's a really good detective but also had a great sense of humor. Plus, she takes down mobsters in tight jeans and 4-inch heels. It's fun to be on a show where you get to do a little comedy, a little drama and some action. I read the script and thought, "A hot chick who kicks butt?? Sign me up!"

What was the energy on set like?
The energy was SO FUN. I had a BLAST! In between takes I would be boxing with Jon (Foo), making Vine videos with Page (Kennedy) or doing push-ups with Justin (Hires). I literally ran around that set taking pictures, learning stunts and cracking up when Justin and Kirk (Fox) would improvise. And, Wendie Malick brought a great energy to set. She's cool, funny and so down-to-earth that you almost forget she's been nominated for a bunch of Emmys. It's a really fun group. We're all so different but get along so well that I think people will see our chemistry and how much fun we have together.

We will see you next in "Sister Cities". What can you tell us about your role in this film?
The pedigree on this film is amazing. Alfred Molina, Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver and Kathy Baker are all in the film. I play Sarah, who is Jess Weixler's character's girlfriend. It's the first time I've played a lesbian so I couldn't imagine a better scene partner. Jess is incredibly talented and we wanted to create a real and relatable relationship. "Sister Cities" is a character-driven movie about four sisters who are brought together by the sudden death of their mother. It's based on a play so the writing is very rich. It's a heartbreaking story.

Is there any type of roles that you haven't played yet and would like to play in the future?
Yes! A superhero! I've been training in Wushu, Muay Thai and sword fighting with my "Rush Hour" co-star Jon Foo so I'd like to put what I'm learning into practice. I think it would be so fun to play an undercover operative like Angelina Jolie's role in "Salt".

Who would be your dream co-star?
Jesse Plemons. I think he's the next Philip Seymour Hoffman who was one of my favorite actors. He can seamlessly transition from comedy to drama and break your heart. He has such a humanity to him but is also so captivating that you can't take your eyes of him when he's in a scene. He's a chameleon... from "Fargo" to "Breaking Bad", to "Black Mass" to "Friday Night Lights"… He played completely different characters in each but he still retains this authenticity. He's gonna win an Oscar one day. So, yeah, Jesse would be my dream co-star.

Giving back is so important to you. How can each one of us play a positive role in supporting our own communities?
Sign up to volunteer, donate money and use social media to support whatever it is you are passionate about. For me it's education. I really believe that education gives you choices and I am on the board of a charity called MOSTE, an organization that empowers girls from underserved neighborhoods of Los Angeles county to become the next generation of college-educated women. Those girls inspire me everyday. One of my favorite quotes is, "Never doubt that a few people can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has."

Can you tell me one thing that people don't know yet about you?
That I almost died when I was 4 years old. And, to this day, I remember the tubes in my nose. It was awful! That experience, even though I was so young, stayed with me and made me so grateful. So, I grab life by the balls and have no regrets because we're not promised tomorrow.
