With your debut album "Dopamine" you presented a unique musical identity. What inspired you to go for this music style?
The songs on Dopamine came out of wanting to make an album with a sense of retro-pop but with contemporary production.

What was the process of making the album like?
I recorded the album with my friend Tommy English. The whole thing was a musical collaboration with a fast deadline.

Once you finished the album, did you realise that you actually came up with something that fills a certain gap in the music scene today? Or was it something you initially planned?
I don't know. I just made music that was fun for me to play.

What do you enjoy more; the result or the journey of making it?
Trying to fit a mess of puzzle pieces together in the studio is beautifully frustrating and has a grand payoff once you get it.

How do you pick the stories you want to write about? Do they all come from a personal place?
Daydreams.

Recently, you shot the "After Dark" sessions, released 2 videos from it. What aspect did you want these videos to add to the songs?
They stripped the songs down to just strings and voice. I wanted listeners to hear the words and melodies differently.

You've performed at Coachella this year. Did you enjoy this experience?
Yes.

Your U.S. headline tour begins this month. What can your fans expect?
Grooves, harmonies, maybe even sing alongs.

Are there any specific cities that you're excited to perform in?
Detroit, New York, Kansas City, London.

What are your must-have items while on the road?
Books, water, B vitamins, obnoxiously large headphones.

I love your fashion style! How important is it for you to express your personality and music through fashion?
Very important. Makes performing and living more enjoyable.

What is your favorite menswear trend right now?
Pajama pants.

Do you have a favorite designer / brand?
Gucci.

What is your favorite fragrance?
A woman's neck.

Do fragrances remind you of specific people?
People, places, dreams, faces...

When was the last time you got your heart broken?
Yesterday.

Are you in love?
Yes.

Tell me one thing that people don't know yet about you!
I used to be an aquatic being… so I'm fluent in amphibian.
